Remembrances

Sophie had many colleagues and friends who have chosen to compose remembrances in her honor. (see below)

Sophie Danielle Guillot was a graduate of the Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing and served our community as an Emergency Department Nurse at the Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center.  Sophie Guillot was my Dear friend and Colleague.  Each morning I looked forward to starting my Shift, knowing I would be working with her at the St. Francis Medical Center Emergency Department.  Sophie deeply loved being a Nurse and her presence brought comfort to her patients as well as her co-workers.  Her love of Nursing exuded from her.  She was always positive, always kind and always gentle.  She provided her care with compassion and treated her patients with dignity, setting the example for her peers.

Sophie was one-of-a-kind.  She was a true Treasure.  She was a ray of Sunshine for everyone she encountered.  Her naturally warm and gentle nature was consistently evident as she cared for her Patients with professionalism and dignity.  As a member of the Bon Secours family, we are instilled with the Organizational values of providing compassionate care to those in need.  These values came naturally to Sophie.

Sophie’s life and career as a Nurse was much too short and she will be dearly missed.  Her passing has left a void that cannot be filled.  Her legacy should serve to inspire future Nurses as they progress through their journey.

How do you describe someone like Sophie?

How do you share the feelings of joy of having known her? How do you share her smile that warmed each of our hearts?

Simply put...after tears of joy and sadness fell to my paper. I realize there are no words ...You can only

take the gift of love, joy, and happiness she gave us and share that with the world

Just as a butterfly  dances into our lives with grace and beauty, So did Sophie

Just as each butterfly  is unique and beautiful

So was Sophie

Just as a butterfly dances from flower to flower

Touching each one

Spreading life

Ensuring that the flower's beauty will go on

So did our Sophie

You see...

Like the butterfly dancing through the field of flowers ...

Sophie danced into our lives with her grace, beauty and smile

Sophie touched each one of our hearts with her love leaving us better for having known her

Our dearest Sophie

While your time with us here in this world and within these sacred walls was brief

The gift you left behind for us is timeless

Sophie

Your patients were comforted by your caring grace.

Your team was enriched by the joy you carried within you each day.

Walls and barriers between units and departments disappeared within this hospital. We worked as one to support something we all believed in...

It was you Sophie

Sophie ..your love and kindness united us

And it was your sweet smile that bonded us

Sophie

May your smile and kindness be what we carry with us each day.

May we use this gift to touch and care for our patients and each other. Let us learn from you Sophie

to pass through this life with love and grace

and of course,with a smile.

Smile on Sweet Sophie Smile on...

Sophie, you were such a sweet girl even though I never told you that. You and your sister were my mean girls (inside joke).  I miss seeing you and getting a big hug and smile when I would see you. Love you and miss you.

Note from Linda Cortez

A truly great nurse is hard to find, difficult to part with, and impossible to forget.’ Sophie represented the best of us, and I feel so grateful to have known this beautiful human.   -LC
